Download SafeVault and create your Master Password
Download SafeVault on your iPhone. On first launch, create your Master Password. It is securely stored in the iOS Secure Enclave — accessible only via Face ID. Never transmitted, never exposed.

In the app menu, tap Activate SafeVault Card. Hold your SafeVault Card to the top of your iPhone. The app verifies the card automatically.
Name your secure vault
Give your secure vault a name to identify it later. This name is stored inside the encrypted content — invisible without your Master Password.
Generate or import your seed
Generate a new 12-word BIP-39 seed inside SafeVault, or import an existing one. Your seed is handled entirely in memory — never written to storage, never sent anywhere.

SafeVault encrypts your seed locally using AES-256-GCM. The derived key and seed are used only in memory during this step and removed completely from memory, overwritten with zeros. Your Master Password remains protected in the Secure Enclave.

Hold the SafeVault Card to your iPhone. The encrypted content is written via NFC. The SafeVault Card stores only the encrypted content — never your seed or password.
Done — your secure vault is active
Your SafeVault Card is now your physical secure vault. To recover your seed, you will need the SafeVault Card and your Face ID — both, always.
Validate your secure vault periodically
In the app menu, access Secure Vault Status and tap Verify Now. SafeVault decrypts and validates the secure vault content without displaying your seed — confirming its integrity and accessibility for when you need it.
To Access Your Seed
Open SafeVault and access Emergency Recovery. Choose the method — hold the SafeVault Card or scan the QR Code — and authorize with Face ID. Your seed is decrypted in memory, displayed securely and upon completion removed completely from memory, overwritten with zeros.
- Your physical secure vault and your Face ID are required — without both, access is impossible.
- Your seed exists only in memory during display — never stored, never exposed.
If You Lose Your Password
There is no recovery without the Master Password. SafeVault has no backdoor, reset or support with privileged access. Your password is yours alone.
Create a Backup Secure Vault
Your physical secure vault can be a SafeVault Card or an encrypted QR Code. A single secure vault is a single point of failure.
- Write to two SafeVault Cards and store them in separate locations.
- Export an encrypted QR Code as a backup secure vault.
- Without a backup secure vault, losing the only secure vault means losing access to your seed.
What SafeVault Never Does
Your seed and password never leave your iPhone.
